Is HCS exam conducted every year?

Is HCS exam conducted every year?

HCS is an exam conducted by Haryana Public Service Commission. Like UPSC conducts higher level exams for central services and all India services. Similarly, HPSC conducts high-level exams for top jobs in Haryana.

Previously these exams were conducted in 2011, 2014, and then 2018.

However, as per government cabinet decisions, these exams will be conducted regularly on a yearly basis like UPSC. Due to certain reasons and circumstances, these exams still need to take shape to be conducted yearly.  Other states PCS like UPPCS, BPSC has started to conducted exams annually and they publish the calendar in advance.

HCS

When can the next HCS exam be conducted?

HPSC will conduct the next HCS exam in 2020. Notification can be released at any time. Earlier according to confirmed sources notification was supposed to release in April 2020. But due to unprecedented COVID-19 Pandemic.

Students are advised to be ready for the exam and instead of waiting, it is time to focus on the exam preparation. After notification, the time will be revision and test series. So cover the entire syllabus immediately and then focus on solving as many as possible questions.

Where can a student find complete guidance?

Frontier IAS provided complete guidance free of cost. We make videos and write from time to time. You can chat in the chatbox right corner below and also subscribe to the regular news updates.

Where to take coaching for the HCS exam?

Frontier IAS is the No. 1 coaching institute for HCS exam. Frontier IAS provides only online coaching.

Why students take online coaching?

  • It gives students the flexibility to choose which topic they should focus more and which topic less
  • In classroom coaching, there is a lot of time wastage in going and coming from home
  • There are very high chances that high-quality coaching may not be available nearby you
  • In online coaching, there is a big research and development team for content development. They work from their places all over India. So quality staff and faculty can be hired from anywhere in India.
  • The focus is on content development so students get quality content at a lesser price.
  • Mostly students who are engineering, science, medical, and professional background, they always prefer online mode instead of wasting time in the classroom.
  • Students can watch videos or read ebooks at any time during the day or night.
  • Contents quality is much better and time wastage scope is very less
  • Classroom coaching despite low quality is very costly while online coaching is chapter despite the better quality.
  • Students can join from any corner of the world in online coaching and the number of students joining is many times as compared to classroom coaching helping to reduce overall cost.

HCS 2020 notification I exam date I syllabus I previous year papers

Haryana Civil Services ( HCS) is the most important exam in Haryana. This exam is conducted by the Haryana Public Service Commission. This exam is supposed to be conducted every year but due to administrative reasons, it is generally conducted an alternate year. However, nowadays other state exams like UPPCS, BPSC, WBPCS have a proper calendar and conducted every year. If there is a calendar then students will have an idea about their preparation strategy.

HCS 2018 was conducted successfully and now the Government is preparing to conduct till the end of the year. According to confirmed sources notification was supposed to come in April but due to unprecedented scenario due COVID -19 like other exams of UPSC and state PCS, this exam is also bound to be impacted. But the good news is that other state PCS and UPSC now have started to take exams so HPSC is also likely to take decisions very soon. Students are advised to focus on preparation.

HCS

How much is the difference between notification published and exam date?

If we see past records, HPSC never declared exam date along with notification but generally conducts exams within 2-3 months of notification.  Many students are not able to predict exam dates and make a plan for exam preparation. Students are highly advised in this matter that they should focus on preparation, have patience, manage uncertainty, and take the real picture into consideration instead of blaming anybody.  The event is certain,  only a matter of time when it will happen. However civil services preparation is not 15-20 days or just a few months ready game, it needs long term efforts, hard work, and planning.

Pattern of exam

HCS exam is a 3 stages exam like UPSC IAS and other states PCS. Students are also overlapping with UPSC and other states PCS. Three stages are:

Stage 1: Prelims: In this stage, multiple Choice questions are asked. There are 2 papers. Each paper contains 100 MCQ.

Paper 1: General Studies 100 MCQ, 100 Marks, each question which is multiple-choice carries 1 mark. There is a negative marking of 0.25 Marks ie 1/4. If there are 4 questions wrong and one question is correct then 1-0.25*4 =0 marks.

The syllabus of the General study paper is discussed in the video.

Prelims GS

Below mentioned is the actual syllabus which is mentioned in the prospectus but from the above video which analyses the actual paper of HCS 2019 gives you a better understanding.  So it is highly suggested that students must watch this video first and then see the below syllabus. Also, all questions, answer key you will see on a separate article.

          General Science
·         Current events of National & International importance
·         History of India and Indian National Movement
·         Indian and World Geography
·         Indian Culture, Indian Polity, and Indian Economy
·         General Mental Ability
·         Haryana–Economy, and people
·         Social, economic and cultural institutions and language of Haryana, etc.

As you know now there are 2 papers in prelims, 2nd paper is of CSAT ( civil services aptitude test)

Prelims  2nd Paper: CSAT Paper

           Comprehension
·         Interpersonal Skills (including communication skills)
·         Logical Reasoning & Problem solving
·         General Mental Ability
·         Basic numeracy
·         Data Interpretation, etc.

You must watch this video about CSAT to understand what type of questions are asked and what strategy students should adopt

There are 100 MCQ in CSAT Paper, unlike UPSC which has 80 MCQ.  There will be 0.25 negative marking. CSAT Marks are counted in prelims total marks calculation. That is why CSAT is the game-changer in the HCS exam.  Maths, reasoning, and comprehension will ultimately help you to clear the prelims exam.

The prelims exam is a screening exam. Those students who qualify prelims will write mains exam but prelims exam marks will not be calculated for the final merit list. For final merit list mains and interview, marks are counted.

Stage 2: Mains

Stage 3: Interview
