How to prepare for the approaching exam?- Frontier IAS
Exams are a crucial part of every student's life. Here exam does not mean any particular or specific zone of examination, we are talking as a whole. Starting from kindergarten to graduation, graduation to competitive exams, we are always in the middle of one or the other exam.
We have already talked about ways to prepare for a competitive exam, check the link for that if you are a beginner. Here, instead of a new journey, we are talking about the journey of a few days left with tips and tricks, one can follow to achieve their goals.
So let’s see which tip you find to be helpful.
Tip 1: Do not panic
Exams are something for which we are preparing for a bit longer time. If I talk about competitive exams like UPSC/ HCS/ UPPSC, then it's definitely a bit more courtship with studies.
Students generally start creating panic during the last days of approaching exams. Just remember one thing, it is Ok to feel the pressure but make sure the pressure is just that much that it rather motivates you.
So don't panic, and remember that YOU CAN DO IT.
Tip 2: Don’t overload yourself
Always remember that the days left are not to learn new things. Never go for quantity of knowledge, always go for the quality. It’s fine if you are left with one or two topics, just make sure whatever you have done so far, is so well versed that not even a single question goes wrong or unanswered.
Tip 3: Practice a lot
The key to cracking an exam is to practice as much as you can. Practicing questions generally put your theoretical knowledge into practical knowledge and every right answer will make you confident.
So practice and practice until you get 95% questions correct.
Tip 4: Focus on wrong answers
As we go through our practice sessions, at times we get a lot of questions wrong, gradually the number of questions done wrong keeps on decreasing but the key to success is concentrating on the questions where you are getting more wrong answers as you get to know where your knowledge is lacking.
So practice but don’t waste your time focussing on what is correct. Focus on wrong answers for better results.
Tip 5: Most crucial last revision
No matter how many times you have done your revision, the last revision is very important and crucial. Try to completely concentrate on what you are reading, writing, and practicing.
Tip 6: Avoid distractions for the last 10 days before the exam
As said above, the last revision is very crucial before any exam. The last 10 to 14 days of an approaching exam are always very important for every student. So make sure you avoid every sort of distraction for these crucial days.
Once you successfully cross this path, nobody can ever stop you from any competition.

Tip 7: Avoid heavy revision a day before the exam
In the above two points, I said to stay away from distractions and pay more attention during the last revisions but do not do any sort of heavy revision, the day before the exam.
Any sort of heavy revision makes one full of anxiety and stress.
Tip 8: Stay motivated
Keep your mind calm and stay motivated. It sounds very simple but this is not that easy. It is completely Ok to feel demotivated or full of stress. But just remember that this demotivated mind will lead you nowhere.

Tip 9: Stay healthy
Again, staying healthy can sound simple but trust me this is the most difficult part of all. People usually make mistakes in giving more stress to physical health but actually, everyone should pay more attention to mental health.
Try to listen to songs, go for a walk, and most importantly eat healthily.
Tip 10: Belief in yourself and your ability
As I am saying from the beginning, if you are successful in controlling in mind, stress, and anxieties, nobody can stop you from achieving your goals and dreams. Just have full confidence in yourself and your abilities that You can do it.
Above mentioned every tip and tricks, somewhere will help in going closer towards your goals but never forget that Exams are just a part of life, success and failure are part and parcel of it. Even after giving your best, you could not make it, don't worry, try again.
