Haryana civil services (HCS) exam is conducted by Haryana Public Service Commission (HPSC). Around 75000 students appear in the HCS exam every time. This number is increasing every time. The lastest exam which HPSC for HCS was on 12th Sept 2021. Students are suggested to start preparations for HCS 2022-2023. Now the question arises which HCS books students should follow and how to do study. 

Difference between HCS and UPSC IAS

Let us understand the difference between HCS and UPSC IAS syllabus. HCS is conducted by the Haryana Public Service commission and IAS/IPS exam is conducted by UPSC and the exam name is the Civil Services examination popularly known as CSE.

1 HCS GS Prelims Syllabus  The syllabus is the same except Haryana portion UPSC syllabus: History, Geography, art and culture, economy and social development, Indian polity,  science and technology, national and international affairs, current affairs 
    No. of Haryana questions can vary from 3-20 questions.  Haryana specific or Haryana GK is not asked in UPSC. During National GK like in the History portion questions from Haryana can be asked but not a targetted approach or in the syllabus. 
    Generally, very few questions are asked from Haryana specific  
2.  HCS CSAT (Civil Services Aptitude test) The pattern is the same as that of UPSC. Here 100 questions are asked.  In UPSC 80 Questions are asked in CSAT. 
 

HCS: 100 Marks Paper

UPSC: 200 Marks Paper

Each question carries 1 mark and 0.25 negative marking against each wrong answer.  Each question carries 2.5 marks. There is 1/3 negative marking.
